MANAGEMENT PLAN UPDATE SET FOR APPROVAL IN 2024 It has been 15 years since the 2008 management plan for Filoha Meadows Nature Preserve was adopted. Work on updating the Filoha plan began in the second half of 2023, with the goal of adopting a new management plan for the property in early 2024. A draft of the plan update will be reviewed by the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board during a Jan. 4, 2024 meeting in Redstone. A link to materials and an agenda for the meeting will be posted here when they are available.
An online survey to collect initial public input into the plan update for Filoha concluded May 15, 2023. A summary of the survey feedback and our management ideas, based on the community input, are available below.

The updated Filoha plan will encompass not only Filoha Meadows, but also the Larson-Grange Loadout parcel on the opposite side of the Crystal River and the Wilden property to the south of Filoha, acquired by Open Space and Trails in 2019. Penny Hot Springs, which was part of the 2008 Filoha Management Plan, now has its own, separate management plan (adopted in 2020) and will not be part of the updated Filoha plan.
