E-bikes in Pitkin County

Class 1 e-bike use is permitted on Pitkin County's paved bike trails and paved/packed gravel trails. Class 1 e-bikes have a top speed of 20 mph and must be pedaled in order to operate. Class 2 and 3 e-bikes are not permitted. The speed limit on bike trails is 20 mph or slower, as conditions dictate.

NO E-BIKES ON SINGLETRACK TRAILS
E-bikes of all classes are prohibited on singletrack trails. This prohibition includes, but is not limited to: Sky Mountain Park, Smuggler Mountain Open Space and the Forest Service trails in and above the Hunter Creek Valley. Smuggler Mountain Road (only the road) is open to e-bikes. Click the map below for an interactive map that shows allowed e-bike routes.
